I am useing Crystal XI. I sometimes use the Section option to "Underlay Following Sections" So that if there isn't data in one field, I can put another field (or subreport) in it's place in the folowing section. I suppress the following section if there was data in the field in the first section. All of that works great. However, I have a report that has multiple detail sections for a form. It needs to have these multiple sections because there are fields that "can grow" at the bottom of some of these sections. It is only the "a" and "b" detail section that I want to use to underlay. Unfortunately, the option to "Underlay Following Sections" does just that, it underlays ALL of the following sections. My only option is to move this information to details e and f, and select e to underlay the following sections. I find this very anoying, becuase I want this information at the top of the form. ---Finally the question... Does version 2008 allow you to underlay just one following section? Do you see another way to accomplish what I want?

Why not just place the fields in one section and conditionally format the fields/formulas to suppress and then place one on top of the other?

I don't know the answer about CR 2008.

That answer makes perfect sense. The problem is I wasn't complete in my explanation. I didn't want to make an already complex explanation more complex. They aren't fields that I am overlaying, but subreports, and the shared variables in the subreports that show if there was data in the sub-report don't change until the subreport has run, so I can only check those variables in the next section.
