I am looking for an unbiased comparison of the performance between the two Operating systems on the same hardware. Can anyone point me in the right direction? The only information and data I haev found so far can be traced back to either the Microsoft or Novell sites.

Thanks Fish

I remember running performance testing on NetWare 4.11 (Sp9), NetWare 5.1 (Sp3), NT 4 (Sp6a) & W2K Advanced Server (Sp2) and to be honest the results were as follows:

1. NetWare 5.1
2= NetWare 4.11
2= NT 4
4. W2K Advanced Server

This benchmarking was done on simple tasks such as read speed, write speed, performance at 10Mb & 100Mb, performance at half-duplex and full-duplex etc...

Where Windows 2000 Advanced Server let itself down was with a less than average read speed. Considering file servers generally read more than they write, this was bad.

All benchmarking tests were performed on the same Compaq Proliant server for info.
