All of a sudden, I am unable to display the contents of any ftp site on my local LAN using IE or the DOS FTP client. I can login, but I cannot display contents or download ( port 20 ). No other system on my LAN regardless of operating system is having this problem. I am running Windows XP Pro.

I was able to get IE working by setting the IE option for Passive FTP. I do not have to do this on any other system on our LAN. Still, I cannot use the DOS ftp client.

What is really weird is that I can go home, connect to the internet and use our company VPN client to connect to the network and FTP works just fine.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Have you installed any firewall software lately on your PC at work or have any of ths network condidtions changed?

No firewall software has been installed. No applicable network changes.

I did have to reinstall The Novell Netware client v4.83sp1, though. However, the problem was occuring prior to the reinstall.

Did you find a fix chiefsmt123?

I'm having the exact same problem and I cannot find a reason for it.

Yes.

I had enabled the "stateful firewall" in our Cisco VPN client. This caused the problem. Doi.
