When using W2K, I am getting the message "Windows cannot update your roaming profile. Detail - Access Denied" when a user logs out.
The permissions all seem in order with the users having full rights to their user directory. This all started after i cleared nimdaE off the server.
Users can access their profile but are unable to update it.

Any help would be great.

Cheers :-(

I assume you mean their "profile" directory when you say "user" directory? MS recommends that they have Full Control at the share level and directory level. Is that what you've got?

Yes, they have full control in both share and directory levels. Just to make it more diffuct I have some users that are unaffected by the problem and their accounts are identical to the ones that are unable to update.
I've tried creating a new user with a new profile but this account won't update either.

Sorry, that should have read difficult

Have you tried this from different machines? I've experienced situations where an OS problem on a PC can cause this...

Yes, I have tried it from different machines but still no good. I have two diffirent sites with identical setups and permissions etc.. but one works the other doesn't. The trouble started after I ran FxNimaE.exe to clear NimdaE off the system but unfortunately I rebooted the server and it looks as though the permissions were reset to the default. I've set them back to what they should be (as far as I can tell),but I think I'm over looking something. The roaming profiles do update if I place the user in the administrators group but I am reluctant to do this on a permanent basis.
The permissions are as follows
:Drive admin=full;auth users=full
\userdata (folder) =Inherited
\%username admin=full;%username=full
As far as I can tell this is correct.

are those the permissions on the profile directory? Try this, on the share itself give Everyone "Full Control". Then on the user's profile directory, give Admins and the specific user "Full Control".
Don't use Authenticated Users...

No, still no good. I think I'm going to have to find out exactly what changes FxNimdaE propagates and try and work back from that. Cheers for all your help when I find out what the problem is I'll send you a mail. In the meantime if you have any other ideas I'd be grateful.
