Hi I am supporting a remote customer and I needed to reboot one of their servers because I could not restart one of the services on the box. I proceeded to use the 2K Reskit utility SHUTDOWN.EXE, but was unable to even though I had admin rights to the box, could see it on the network and map to it. I re-enabled the browser service (even though its a pure Win2K network), didn't spell it wrong since I browsed to it, and checked to make sure there were no policies enabled to disable remote shutdown.
I am somewhat perplexed and I don't why this would fail. Anybody might have any other thoughts. The last thing I tried was to schedule a job on the remote server in order to shut it down. Thanks

maybe you could use reboot.exe from the resource kit. I have also had the same problem with shutdown a time or two.

Stiddy if I can give you a 1000 stars this would have been an occasion. Acutally the command is restart.vbs which I executed in the following fashion;
cscript restart.vbs /S machine /R
Worked like a charm the first time. I will indeed add this to my toolkit, this one's a keeper
