Unable to perform a Brick Level backup

I would appreciate any advice that can be given here. We have just noticed that our brick level backups have not been happening. When I open the job to check what should be backing up, the brick level option is not selected. We select it and save the job but when we re-open the job it has automatically de-selected the brick level option. We are using Arcserve Version 9 on Exchange 5.5.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. For info - I am not 100% familiar with Arcserve and had nothing to do with the set up with it. I have just taken this role over.

Check that the Backup Agent RPC Server service is running and set to start automatically.

This agent provides the link between exchange and arcserve.

Thank you for your response. We have looked in to this further today and think we have resolved it. Basically, we were originally clicking at the top level to select the whole of the brick level, but we have just tried it selecting the options individually and this appears to have saved the settings. We have done a test backup and all seems well.
