unable to open pictures

This only happens on some of our workstations running xp pro and office 2k standard. when a user get an email with pictures attached and then tries to open them from the email they get one or both of these errors from ms photo editor:

No file format information can be found in the registry

or

unknown file format

But if the user saves the picture to some location and then open the saved file everything is fine.

i have no problem opening pics from email though. i thought it might be a rights thing but other admins have the same problem. i'm the only one who has not had the problem.

never mind i figured it out. its a permissions issue and you need to edit the registry to allow all users to open pics from email. i found a solution in microsoft's knowledge base.

That's funny. I was JUST getting around to fixing this today. Mostly because I was sending digital photo shots from the Halloween costumes at work!!!

This says it applies to Office 2000, but it should work for e-mail as well.

This site views the LN portion of your original link as a markup lanugage entry and messes up these urls from MS. I just replace the whole LN in square brackets with en and no brackets.
