Please excuse if this is the incorrect area for this question - but point to the right one? ;-)

Have several Access databases on network drives - have been fine for years; recently (last couple of weeks) some people unable to open database if another person has the file open. It reports to be an incorrect name or file missing, not unable to share.

Have checked (to me) the obvious; file share attribute set; individual not opening in 'exclusive' mode; but no success. I should add that the datasbe can be opened by more than one person (but the same people cause the lock out). Nothing has changed to the database, but we have just updated novell client to 4.8 sp1

Any help appreciated.

Have some of the people got write access to the directory the files are held in (so causing an LDB file to be created) and others not?

Your all users must have exactly the same rights(read and write) and present in one group users in network.
Also you should care of read-only or write users within your forms(locked fields if read-only users and unlocked them if they must input data).
It work always in my case
