I am working on putting together a new rig for some light gaming. I purchased an AMD 1900 (Palomino core) processor, a MSI K7N2 Delta Mobo w/nVidia chipset, and 256MB of Corsair memory. When I attempt to load any OS on this unit the system hangs in text mode setup.

Other Specs
64MB nVidia Video card
10GB IBM hard drive

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing the system to hang?

could be a bad or incompatible video card. try dos instaaltion if possible

Hi there, which OS's are you trying to put on the PC?

what does the screen say when it hangs? does it just sit there and is locked up? or does it display an error message?

Ben

Placing the RAM stick in slot3 work syar2003, thanks. Any ideas why it would make a difference on which memory slot was used?

It was just a qualified guess.
I have myself Nforce2 Ultra 400 board from abit (Nf7-s v.2.0)
Slot usage was recommended by manufacurer to be in the order 3 - 2 - 1 when installing memory.
As for the manual delivered with mb's it's always based one the 1'st original bios , so not all in there is correct using a newer bios than the original one made with the mb release.
And read in several forums that not using dual-ddr with only one chip you should try different slots.

Cheers SYAR.
