I have been working on my Windows 2000 network for several years without any major complications until recently. I am an administrator of the network and also have my personal login account with administrative rights. Recently I am not able to access any servers or workstations computer management console, I keep getting this message whenever I open the Computer Management Console
"You do not have sufficient security privilages to uninstall devices or to change device properties or device drivers. Please contact your site administrator, or log out and login again as administrator and try again."

Does anyone know any resolution to this problem, I would greatly appreciate any help in this matter.

Is this only on your machine? Reason I ask, you might want to check for viruses if you can get at the machines logging on different machines. Some viruses attack admin accounts. Glen A. Johnson

Thanks for the reply Geln

I have found out the problem, it was not a virus that has caused this to take effect, it was some junior in the department with admin rights enabling a policy which was enforced domain wide!!! I had ran a audit on the domain and was able to locate the problem after wasting about a complete day.

Let me assure you that this user no longer has these rights )
