Hi all!

I recently upgraded our mail server to W2K3 Service Pack 1 and there weren't any technical problems. Yesterday I tried to execute an application package in order to upgrade our mail messaging software and kept getting the following error message:

Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

I cannot understand why I keep getting such a message because I am logged on as a local administrator with full rights to everything. A few days ago I was able to execute 2 other application packages without any problems whatsoever. So why is this happening?

Would appreciate some feedback on this.

Thanks!

Is this app using Windows Installer?

What path is it looking for? Sometimes i get this when installing an MSI the package looks for my homedrive H: if it's not mapped the install fails. If i then map the drive the install succedes without installing anything in the homedrive (very odd). I think it must be caused by updating Windows Installer while logged on with a mapped drive but i'm not sure.

Was SP1 installed from a network location?
