Unable to download since upgrading to W2k and IE6

Hi all,
I recently upgraded to w2k and ie6. I have been trying to download some updated drivers for my scanner and printer to no avail. When I start the download I am prompted whether to save of run from current location, I choose save and which directory, the download starts and then freezes up. After about 15 minutes a dialog box states that the download timed out. Any suggestions? I am running low on hard drive space 900mb but that should be plenty enough space to download these drivers. I tried to look into the registry and delete the .exe folder but there wasn't one there. I also tried to uninstall ie6 and re-install it. Any suggestions would be great.

I use Reget (used to be free/ad supported, isn't any more)

do u have any software like getright , download accelerator ..
u can get them from any friend using a CD or something , and try with them .. if the problem is the same , I think u have to uninstall IE6 !

Thanks for the response Mohamed, I am able to send and receive email as before with attachments. Question: Why would I have to use a download management software now when I didn't have to before?

Another thing, the only downloads that are successful are from windows update.

Hi.. try this one..
1.Click Start
2.Choose Settings
3.Choose ControlPanel
4.Choose InternetSettings
5.Choose Security
Choose Standard Settings
Exit on Apply and OK.

..if it still dont work..check this:
Same actions as before step 1-5
Choose Modify Settings
In the lower part of the pane, check that File Downloads are activated.
