Unable to display any more than 16 colours 1

I have had to rebuild my system after a Virus attack. After this full rebuild I can not display any more than 16 colours and 640x480 resolution even though I have loaded the drivers delivered with my Sony Multiscan monitor. I have even installed a different make of monitor but that also refused to display any more than 16 colours

Suggestions and help would be gratefully received

Howdy:

It isn't the monitor at fault, it's your video card.. Install the proper drivers for it !!
