Hi - I am a General Supervisor maintaining two large Universes containing data from various areas of our business.

The 2nd of these universes is relatively new, however the Users are complaining that they are unable to delete (already) retreived documents.

I have followed the implementation of our original (very sucessful) Universe to the letter but I am unable to diagnose the problem.

The only difference is that the original universe points at a DB2 DB and the one which is unable to delete docs is on Oracle RDB (and this is the only problem we are getting)

Please help.

You mean you are not able to delete it from the repository?

Yes. I have tried to purge the (INBOX) documents in Supervisor for any document over 1 day old, but the Users still have a list of reports they have been sent just lying there.

I have checked with the DBA and although the users themselves do not have 'delete' priviliges against the Database, I do. Yet as General Supervisor, I still cannot delete any of these reports.

Yet, I can still delete items from my own area!!??!!

try that compact option and see

Tool - Repositories - Scan - compact

This makes no sense at all.

Once documents are retrieved, they are not stored in the repository. They are stored in locally. By locally, I mean that they are stored on the desktop for full-client or on the WebI server (in the Storage directory) for InfoView.

The InfoView users have to delete them themselves. Or you can write a little DOS script to delete old files from the Mail subdirectory of the Storage directory.

Actually, "he's" right for client documents also. When users retrieve documents from their inbox via full-client, the documents are stored locally in the user-docs directory. Once retrieved, they are no longer available form the Inbox.

Thanks for the help with this.

I have managed to delete the original document for the Users by using Tools/Delete Documents...

It's not ideal, but it appears to be the only way I can get rid of the documents in question...
