Unable to create sub-folder & upload docs

I have seen that kenyeoh had mentioned this in earlier posts, but the question was never answered.

I have a standalone server running in an extranet environment. I have my personal login on the computer set as Coordinator on SharePoint Adminstrator security tab.
Yet when I log in successfully to sharepoint, I cannot add sub-folders or upload a document. The error I get is "An error occurred while processing your request. Please contact your system administrator for this server."

Funny thing is if I log in as the user on the box that is a member of the administrator's group then everything works fine.

Anyone have any suggestons?
