I have a user who uses a wireless connection to connect to Exchange server. User is unable to connect using Outlook Express, keeps recycling thru asking for password. I am able to connect using IE and the IP address, password is correct but I cannot connect using Express. I've checked the configuration and the stored password in Express but it continues to recycle thru asking for a password. I keep getting the following error: There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'Maria', Server: 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92. Does anyone have another idea?

Shot in the dark time....,

1) try putting in domain\username for the account name.

2) try using the email servers ip address for incoming and outgoing server.

As I said, a shot in the dark.

Thanks, but that's exactly the way I have it setup. I'm going to run nmap on the laptop to make sure the port is open. Any other suggestions out there?

Hi Piwaadmin,

And you do have your POP3 virtual server enabled?

What is your SP for Exchange? Microsoft indicates that SP2 might correct this issue.

Hope this helps.
