I am only using exchange server on my SBS 2000 server. The exchange server is working fine as far emails are concerned (i can both send and receive emails), do a webmail from internet clients, but I cannot access the internet on it using HTTP. Both IE and Firefox time out. However, the DNS server works fine and if i do a ping to any outside domain i get the properly resolved address. Its getting very frustrating as I cannot download any patches/ updates directly to the server. As far I know I am not using the proxy server piece of SBS 2000 and the server is directly hooked to my firewall. HTTP traffic to all clients and my other servers is fine too. This is the only server I am having browsing issues...I have checked my system for any TCP hijacking viruses and all results came negative. I am sure a guru will be out there with a resolution. Thanks.

Check the IE properties>connections>lan settings. Are you using a proxy?

That is the first thing I did. Make sure that there is no proxy involved. Again, even Firefox doesnt work. Both have the straight internet connection configured (no proxies)

Thanks for the pointers porkchopexpress, i will check the configuration and use the utilities and see what they come up with.

can also use nslookup (DOS command) to query your DNS server directly.

Haven't heard anything about the firewalls. Any in use? Just a thought.
