Hello,
I hope that someone will be able to help me out. I am having a problem with the Computer Broswer service in my network.I have a domain that I can not browse from our remote offices.
Let me give you a little background layout of my network. We have 6 offices, our corporate HG and 5 remote offices. Each of the remote offices has its own domain. At our corporate HQ, we have two domains, one for users and resources specific to that location and our root Windows 2K AD Domain. Four of the five remote office domains have been upgraded to Windows 2K domains and are child domains to the root domain. The other remote office has not been upgraded from NT 4.0 yet, as well as the local domain for the corporate HQ.
The problem I have is that users in the remote offices can not browse any of the machines that are part of the root AD domain. They can browse every other domain, but not that one. Name resolution by server name works correctly because they can access those servers via UNC. Users in the corporate office can browse the root domain, most likely using broadcasts.
We have WINS running in the network and I can not find a 1BH record for the root domain in the WINS database. The 1BH record exixts for the other domains. I'm sure that this is a big part of the problem, but I can not figure out why that record doesn't exist.
I hope that someoen can help me out and point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!
