Hi All
I have been setting up a rebuilt machine on our network. The network is peer to peer. I have set up file sharing on the Win 2000 machine. Everything is fine except when I try to access the shared files from a 98 machine.

When I try to access the new machine, I receive the message \\computer\IPC$ asking for a password. I have set up the user permissions on the Win2000 machine but it keeps rejecting my passwords.

So, I check the Microsoft site which says that I need to start the Netlogon service. However, I keep getting the message that Windows could not start the Net Logon and an error code of 3095.

Thanks in Advance for your help

The 3095 error means that you are not in a Domain; which, you in fact are not.

The Net Logon service is used only in Domain, not Workgroup, settings.

Make the users of Win98 users with passwords on the Win2k machine, and vice-versa.

You can also enable the 'Guest' account on the Win2k machines.
