Hi folks, I need your collective knowledge on this one.

It appears that the Option 81c that I'm trying to install has a ghost (more like a poltergeist!) in the machine. As of late, I am unable to communicate with the system via J25 at the back, nor via the comm ports on the active CPU a day later.

Here's a rundown... initially I could administer the system via J25 with no issues, then one day for no apparent reason, I could no longer do so. Ironically, I never got the paddle board (NT8D41BB) to work, neither as a CDR or TTY, so the port I programmed and configured on it are of no help. I have double, triple, and quadruple checked every single switch setting to no avail.

Now I cannot access the PBX at all via the serial ports on the CP PIV (NT4N39AAE5 01) faceplate. I've tried straight and the nullmodem cables. Previously, I was using the null modem cable to access it via comm 2. I've tried both cables on both ports.

What are my options?

Here's another fun fact, even though I do an EDD religiously, the system has been "forgetting" the changes made after the initial programming after sysload. It goes as far as to state that it successfully completed the backup each time, but alas my changes are gone with the next reboot.

For example, I programmed 300 analog extensions one day, the next day there's no dialtone on the sets, I get a re-order when I ring them and the cards stat as UNEQ.

However, my primary concern at this point, is system access. Any ideas??

you have a maint telephoneset that you can use for tty? I would dis and Enl in ld 37 the TTY ports .

Or if you didn't program an Maintenence set, you need to do an INI.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

To be honest, I didn't set one up yet, and I've initialized this thing to the point where it's probably got brain damage by now.

I've tried ini & sysloads using either CPU. No cigar.

are there any PTY ports programmed? If so, you could try to Rlogin through the E-LAN of the Call Server. If you haven't configured a host, the default IP address is 137.135.128.253. Depending on software release the mask is either 255.255.254.0 or 255.255.255.0.

If that fails, then I would say it is time to reload software , and start troubleshooting.

It's time to call a Vendor!

the backup problem could be rdun dis.. but more then likely a patch... i would reload that one make a echg then edd and cold start PRIOR to adding stations again..
