Recently I was able to use my wireless notebook to access files located on my office PC. I could also play streaming audio from the Internet by double clicking on a shortcut located on the Desktop of my notebook. Then I read about Windows Defender, and decided to install it, as I was looking for a better spyware app. At the same time my Zone Alarm may have done an automatic upgrade.
I imagine that my problem has something to do with either Defender or Zone Alarm. How can I fix this? BTW, I am paralyzed in the legs, and therefor unable to go to the office PC to check settings. I presume nothing has changed on the office PC, however.

I use Defender on my systems and we have a wireless network here at home. No problems sharing files between systems. I can also play streaming audio, if I wanted to.

My guess is Zone Alarm. I used to use it but it blocked so much that I finally got rid of it. Try uninstalling it ans see if anything changes. If not, reinstall it and try uninstalling Defender. At least that should help you narrow down the possible causes.

Thanks,JPaules
I uninstalled ZA. It worked. Reinstalled only the firewall part of it, but not the anti-spyware part. It still worked, so all is good.
