Imran Make habit of marking posts as helpful or expert post, if they do solve your problems.

If you have dot net, you might have visio for enterprise architects as well. It can draw UML diagrams and generate (dot net) sourcecode from it. My first impression was not that good, but it is usable.[smarty]

I'm with Don: if you can get your hands on Rose, go for it. But if you have to use Visio, it's not terrible...heh, but it isn't Rose

There are a lot of free UML modeling tools out there. One that I know of which has made quite an impression to me is the Objecteering/UML tool. One of their packages is freely downloadable. If I remember correctly I think it is the Personal Edition one. It is just a UML modeler and does not include a code generation tool for C++ or Java.

Hope this helps! - janvier -

I usually use either ArgoUML or Poseidon for my UML modelling. It generates Java code stubs, but I've written a small VB5 program to translate it into VB. If you like, you can download it from
It generates VB5/6 code and is not adapted for dot net.

Best regards
