Hi All,

I am getting this error message while restoring one file system(which I had backed up using ufsdump command):-
Cannot find file dump list

This tape also contains multiple filesystem backups

I'm giving this command
ufsrestore rfs /dev/rmt/0n 5 &
(The filesystem is 5th on the list of filesystems backed up
and the tape is initially on 1st filesystem)

Any idea about this..please help....

how did you run the backup? did the backup run/complete without errors

Regards

For ufsrestore purposes, the first logical tape starts at 0, not 1. Is it possible that you actually want to restore the filesystem which, whilst being 5th on the tape, is actually number 4 if numbering from 0 inclusive? I know I've been caught out like this on occasion!

Revisiting this thread, I notice that your ufsrestore command is being run in the background - in this case it might fail because there is a certain degree of interaction required of the user (next logical tape etc), so it might not work anyway. Not sure if you did get it to work, but to getaround this, you might have to wrap your ufsrestore so that it takes the required responses from the script.
