Everything was going good and then something hiccup-ed.
The corporate people closed down the local DNS server so, I attempted to point my VMS to the new server and clean up a few things in the host tables. I have yet to figure out what went wrong. Here are the symptoms:
I used to be able go into UCX and type SHOW HOSTS. UCX would reply with the local hosts as well as the hosts listed in the DNS at the corporate offices.
Now when i use SHO HOSTS, I get the local hosts but not the corporate hosts however I do get a complaint about "no record found" and "Bind_No_ZoneXfer".
But, I can ping one of the corporate hosts that isn't listed in my local host table. The ping makes a connection suggesting that the DNS from the corporate DNS is providing the translation.
What did I do wrong and how do I solve it?
