Has anyone ever tried to use the Fsck -y command on a UC Module that was continuously rebooting?

I had one fail over the weekend, and only noticed because the voicemail to email stopped working, and when I rebooted the system, the whole UC Module got stuck in a reboot loop.

I had a spare to replace it with, but did not have the WAV files backed up, so brought the bad one back to the shop and connected it to a lab IP500 and an HDMI monitor and saw it come up with errors before it rebooted each time.

At one point while it showed an error, it gave the option to press CTRL-D to continue (reboot) or something else to go into maintenance. I went into maintenance (REPAIR FILESYSTEM) and was able to use the command "fsck -y" to automatically try to fix detected problems automatically. It went through the boot process again and looked like it corrected the errors, and upon a reboot after the repairs, the system came up correctly and allowed me full access to the VM Pro.

I then just went into PuTTY and WinSCP and grabbed the WAV files, as I do not trust the UC Module that is fixed to put it back at the customer site. I will rebuild the UC module with the USB initiator and see if it gives any more problems.

dpctelcom, there is a PCN out where some (read most) UCM's have problems with the SSD.
This SSD ca ngo kaput becuase of a bad sector.
I guess to fixed that sector.
Do a search hear and check the serial number and if you are lucky (i think you are) you can swap it for a new one for free.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Its not a bad sector as i understand. The PCN is to address a firmware issue. The SSD vendor changed the firmware without telling Avaya. This caused the SSD to overwrite the same sectors, over and over again. Because of the nature of voicemail getting deleted often this causes the same sectors to be written to way more than the SSD was design for. Thus causing the early failure.

That is what i mean.
Because of writing to the same sector over and over again it breaks and then the UCM stops working.

Of course this means that even if I fixed it temporarily with this, the problem will come back because of faulty SSD hardware/software. Trying to get the units I have replaced with the newer blue labels.

Thanks for the heads up.

IP Office UCM firmware
Trying to upload new Phison firmware to correct ssd problem on module.
Avaya PCN not applicable so have to make a go of it.

Ideas?
Thanks
