Type Selection in Drop Down

I have a drop down menu that has a large number values in it. I want my users to be able to type in more than the just the first letter to move to their selection.

Currently I can only manage to get the drop down to accept the first character typed. If the users types 1, they will move to the first 1 in the list of values, then when they type 2, they will move to the first 2 in the list of values.

ie: if they are looking for 123 Main Street, I would like them to be able to start typing 1, 2, 3, M, a, until they arrive at their selection.

I know this is possible in some programs but cannot find out how to make this work in UD.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks, Brenda

Hi,

I don't know how you will do this in javascript but the site below has hundreds of form-based javascript ideas that you may scroll through and mix and match to meet what it is you're after.
Most applications that do what you are suggesting are 32bit applications and for web-based stuff I have seen this accomplished using XML data islands (which is far too scary to contemplate!)

Hope that helps
