I have a small network, 1 win2k server which is going to replace a Novell server. The problem I have is a win98 pc has two network cards installed 1 card takes care of the Lan and the other card has a Teleweest broadband modem attached, Now the clients all run tcp/ip and ipx/spx and get assigned an ip No from the 2kserver(DHCP)the range is 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.30, Subnet 255.255.255.0 Now on the win98 pc it also gets an ip assigned from the modem its range is 85.xxx.xxx.68 Subnet 255.255.248.0.

I'm unable to ping the modems range from any of the pc's or the gateway it gets assigned. Please If anyone can help I would be most gratefull.

Joe.

Multihoming a Win98 machine is a pain. Your best bet is to replace it with a router.

Dearingkr has a point: replace the Windows 98 machine with a broadband router. Don't know your local prices but here (The Netherlands, Europe), they cost about $30-40 at the low end. Saves alot of trouble, trust me.

If you still want to use your Windows 98 machine for the routing, you need some sort of internet connection sharing program. Windows 98 Second Edition has this feature built-in (see or you can have a look at tools like
Sygate: or Wingate
But, it looks nice in theory but may be a pain in practice (i've spent alot of hours troubleshooting my home network in the past).

Hope this helps.
Good luck!
