I have a new Windows 2003 Storage Server with 2 build in NIC's, my old file server (that is now offline) only had one. I plan to use IP address of my old file server for the first nic in the new file server. Can I use any other IP address within the reserved scope for the other NIC? Should I think about only using the one NIC? Binding the two NICs together? I'm looking for the easiest solution that won't cause other issues.
The name of this new Windows 2003 Storage Server will be the name of the old file server, so that users don't realize it is a new server.
