Due to two comapines network merging, we will end up having two domains of the same "Domain.com" in the same network. Our IPs reside in 192, while theirs reside in 10. How much of a problem will we have, and what can be done to prevent as much as possible until one domain is renamed?

get a copy of Virtual PC and run it a test enviornment.

just make sure they are segmented from each other...trust will never be an option of course

almost got a paragraph there :)

If each network is able to ping the other one through a router, is that going to cause problems?

When you mean segmented, how far are you talking?

As long as you segment the DNS properly, there won't be any issues. All clients from Company1 would lookup their domain resources through their own DNS server, the same for Company2.

Obviously you can't establish a trust, so there's no central way of sharing resources, at least not through the domain.

Longer term, you should consider upgrading one to W2K3, which supports domain renames. Once you have two distinct names, you have many options.

Don't count on a rename with a 2003 upgrade unless you desire to go though a 70 page document.
