I'm pretty new to this, but have a Domain Controller set up in one building of a two building facility. Is it possible to set up an additional DC in our other building, but keep all users and settings such as group policy idential on both controllers? We have people that travel back and forth between the two - our VPN isn't fast enough to have people in building 2 use the DC in building 1, but their accounts should remain the same.

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

What connection do you have between the two buildings? speed/type?

I'm Certifiable, not certified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

Get a link between the two buidings set up and install a second DC and that will duplicate your entire ad structure.

if your link is not fast, i would consider making building 2 a SITE in AD. Then you could set the replication schedual for off hours, thus saving bandwidth between the 2 buildings. If you have a fast link, then maybe just make this building and extension of building one's LAN.

like they say...
a 2nd DC will hold a full copy of the directory..
any changes on either will replicate with the other. So yes it is VERY possible...

And if your connection between the two buildings is slow, add your DC like buddafish says, in the same site
