I would like to know where to get a memory module (at least 16MB) to upgrade the Twinhead SubNote 486SLC with Type 1 PCMCIA. Is there a Web site for BIOS upgrades? How would I upgrade the disk to >1GB?

Thanks in advance.
well for one goto your manufactuer's website, they'll usally have all this information set out for you, if you are unsure call radio shack, or any store that you know sells the same brands of notbooks, upgrading the harddrive, would usally mean Replacing it, or adding a new one, I could recomend a SCSI harddrive, if you arnt moving from place to place too much, although they're expensive. (look into getting a Jaz Drive[SCSI for best performance, does about 2Gig a cartrige], or a CDburner)

you can often find external burners, for permenet storage, but check with your manufactuer, they just might have a catalog for all the upgradeble parts.
Karl
kb244@kb244.8m.com
<a href=

Karl,

Thanks for the quick reply. I should have mentioned that the Twinhead web site only covers recent models - not mine!
I have a nasty feeling that the memory modules were never made > 8MB which I have already installed. I would really like to replace the internal small disk rather than go extrenal. The floopy drive is already external!

Regards

Tony

doyou know if your laptop will be compatible with any other models on the line, I would take it into a hardware shop, see if they can identify the model types you can get, most companies, will make it be able to use a standard line of HDD or rams, rather than make a brand that can only come from them. I'll think of some other sugestions as I go home tonight.
Karl
kb244@kb244.8m.com
<a href=
