well for one goto your manufactuer's website, they'll usally have all this information set out for you, if you are unsure call radio shack, or any store that you know sells the same brands of notbooks, upgrading the harddrive, would usally mean Replacing it, or adding a new one, I could recomend a SCSI harddrive, if you arnt moving from place to place too much, although they're expensive.
