Our Avaya guy left so we struggle with more advanced stuff so bear with me.

I've been told that we need a broadcast system in the company that will alert the entire company of an emergency. I have gotten to the point where I have a vague idea of how I would like to do this but I am open to new ideas. Here's my plan: We have group-pages per department. I would create a phone station for each one of those and pool them into its own group-page extension. So the idea is that if I call the parent group-page for the company it will dial all the extensions. The extensions will forward via predetermined coverage-path remote lines back to the group-page extensions thus calling everyone in the department group-pages. brilliant right?

Overview: Company group-page -> Extensions -> Coverage-path remote 1 (department group-page extensions go here) -> Department group-pages.

My problem is that I dont want to hook up a bunch of voip phones and stick em in a room in order to forward to the coverage-paths, if this would even work.

If there is another idea Iam totally willing to do it.

Thanks for the help.

They dont want to spend any money but they want an efficient means to do this.

read up on push sdk. You can build a web server. You go there record a file. Then push that file to all IP phones. Its all custom, so good luck.

Push SDK looks like it could work for what we need but where does it get installed to? Is it its own seperate server? What OS does it require? Remember I am new to Avaya.

Im looking at documentation but it isnt very clear about a starting point in this regard.

On the coverage path idea you could try this with virtual extensions , unsure if it would work but worth a try as a test.

how many phones need to be alerted in a crisis? if it's 127 or less build a new group page that includes everyone in the company, and only use it for a crisis.

you do have to make sure (Special Application) SA9096 is stroked to "y" in order to get 127 members in a paging group. keep in mind you need enough voip resources to make a page to everyone...
