My present video card is a Voodoo 4500 PCI and after playing a VCD on my computer I am interested in getting a card to allow me to play it on my TV. I was going to buy a DVD player for my tv, but I think I might be better running it through my computer. Basically looking for some opinions on the matter. Thanks in advance.

If your unsure....Dont do it!

You are going to get better quality buying a stand-alone dvd player.

If you still want to try TV-out for any reasons, ATI video cards are far superior to nVidia cards in this respect. ATI cards allow you to have both displays on at once (nVidia cards are a pain switching between modes, 'cause you need both hooked up at once to make a change). ATI drivers have controls so you can adjust the output in terms of size and positioning (my nVidia card has a horizontally shrunk display at 800x600 and I can't change it, so I'm stuck w/ 640x480).

yea the ATI cards are really nice we use them at school for video editing and they work great I am thinking about gettin on soon b/c I want to do some editing and dakota81 is right u will get better quality with a stand alone dvd player the video is a lil choppy and not as clear as it is on ur computer monitor

Thanks for opinions guys, I`ll have a look in to an ATI card. Or I may just consider getting a larger monitor as computer is in the same room as the TV anyway. If your unsure....Dont do it!

Well I have a tv out and dont use it since I have a cdrw, and a vcd playing DVD I convert my divx to vcd and watch them on the TV. this way is much more fun, and much more of a pain in the boot... heheh but it is usually nice looking. js error; 67 on line; 36 of signature.class
