I bought a TV card (Xpert TV-PVR883), and installed it succesfully. However, I am not able to get any channel to appear on my screen. When I ran the autoscan, the application goes through some 100 channels, but can't locate any. I am also not able to hear any sound. I am suspecting that I didn't do the right set up for the sound.
And finally my other problem is with Realplayer. After installing the drivers for the card, my realplayer got corrucpted. I re-installed again, but no luck.
I would appreciate your assistance in giving me some help.

Thanks!

draissam,

What OS are you using?

If MCE, check to see is this card is supported in MCE and you have the correct drivers.

If not MCE, what app are you using for control?

Thank you guys for your prompt response.
Here are some further information:

OS:Win2000
Application: PVR Plus (came with the card)
MCE? not sure what that is!
I have a small antena hooked to the card.

Your help would be apreciated.

Well,... I am located in a residential area of a metropol, so, if there was no TV signal here, I would have known about it.

On my TV card setup there is a menu for source (composite, cable/antenna, or S-video), and video type (NTSC, PAL, or SECAM).

If you are in North America you want cable and NTSC.

I am in North America, and I have the same sources you have : composite; cable/antenna; S-video. Since I have an antenna hooked to the card, I have slected the antenna source, and NTSC-M. However, it doesn't work. Even when I select cable, it doesn't work.

There could be electrical interference that prevents you from seeing any channels. Do you see snow on every channel, with no images? That would confirm what I suspect. You could attach the antenna to some grounded object in the building (like a water pipe) to see if you get any channels locking in.

As for the sound, have you checked the settings of the mixer to make sure something didn't mute the signal, or change the levels? Do you get sound with Media Player?

Another thing...

Make sure that it is set to Analog not Digital...

I have an ATI 9600 AIW. ATI recommends that it have a strong signal via shielded cable. If your scan isn't finding any channels, you probably don't have a strong enough signal. You can confirm this by getting a small TV, and connecting your antenna to it. I have an outdoor antenna with a distribution amplifier in the basement. All signals run through shielded cable.

Thank you guys for your input. After many attempts trying to get something out of this card, I have decided to return. I will shop for another one. Any ideas on what would be a good card for me given that I need to use the card for capturing DV tapes, and burning them into a DVD as well as watching satellite TV. The software that came with my Kworld is not good, and the users manual was very poor.
Your suggestions are most welcome.
