Turning on DMA on IDE - huge speed gain

Most people believe that DMA support doesn't exist under NT4. It's wrong:




Careful that all Microsoft's provided drivers do comply with DMA, but rarely some third party drivers for hard-disk/cd-drives do not.

Speed tests I made on a cd-recorder with Nero CD speed shown increase by factor 2 of read speed (from 9x to 21x) and drop by factor 4 of CPU usage (from 80x to 20x). David Burg,
