Can someone please tell me how to turn off the overwrite mode permanently. While editing I often hit the insert button by mistake when going for backspace (my backspace button on this keyboard is real small) and end up overwriting text.

Hi mmshrink2,

I don't think you can turn off the feature - and I'm not sure it has the same effect in all applications anyway.

In Word you can disable it by

Tools > Customize > Keyboard
Select All Commands under Categories
Select Overtype under Commands
Click on Insert under Current Keys
Press Remove

I don't know if it's possible to do it without using VBA code in Excel or Access. What application are you having problems in?

Enjoy,
Tony

Thanks so much, Tony. Word was exactly what I was looking for, and it works like a charm.
Cheers
