I have a Windows 2003 server (our only Windows 2003 server and it is a domain controller...the rest of our servers are Novell so I also have the Novell client installed on this server) with Terminal Services and Citrix Metaframe 1.0 FR3 installed. I have activated 5 concurrent per server MS Windows licenses, 20 Terminal Server per user CAL's and 15 Citrix connection licenses on the server.
On the server we ocassionally get the message "Warning: License usage for a product licensed in per server mode is nearing the maximum number of licenses purchased. Consult the application log or licensing from the administrative tools folder for more information."
It appears it is issuing and reporting the citrix server licenses correctly. Right now for the Metaframe connections it is reporting 15 assigned and 2 assigned in use.
Looking at the terminal services licenses it reports 20 available licenses but 0 issued even though I have 2 users logged on via Citrix.
For the Windows server licenses it reports 5 "Per Device or Per User Purchased, 0 "Per Device or Per User Allocated", 5 "Per Server Purchased" and 6 "Per Server Reached". So I'm assuming this is where the error is coming from.
Since this server is a domain controller, I have set in the default domain policy as well as the local computer policy the right for everyone to "log on locally" and to "allow log on through terminal services". Is this what is causing all the ms windows licenses to be used up?
My intention was to be using the 20 Terminal Services licenses for the users to log in via citrix. Any idea why the Terminal Services licenses don't appear to be issuing at all?
