I have a server that I have been performing backups on for quite some time and never have a problem.

Today I went to and rebooted in preparation for the code red worm virus.

Now I am getting the CONNECT TO SERVER screen and the server name is prepopulated as NONE. When I put in my password and click on OK, I get "the Network Name could not be found" message.

What am I doing wrong?

The backup exec is loaded on the server I backup from and to, so no networking need take place.

Help!

Thanks

I started using Backup Exec this week and I had a similar problem the first time I started the program. It appeared that the "Backup Exec Naming Serice" was not started yet. After starting the service the problem was solved.

I was unable to restart the service and eventually had to reinstall Backup Exec. Works fine since reinstalling thought.
Thanks

In the version I use I had this problem. I'm using NT 4.
The problem was that all the services BE is running each need the same username and password, and it has to be the same one you're using for Admin on the machine/server.
Dunno if that applies to you, but everytime I change my admin password I have to go into Services and change each one manually for all the BE stuff.
Good luck
