Within the CS2 Bridge, I created a single folder that I called "My pics". This foler contained over 5000 pics inside in both NEF and JPG formats. However, it was difficult to find a picture for quick emailing. So I then simply dragged the file from my "Favorites" within the bridge menue to the left of the main window and dragged it to my desktop. However, most of the NEF files were locked. Later on, I dragged them back to the CS2 bridge, but when I looked, the file was empty. I then opened Elements 3.0 which I found them all, however, about 2000 of them had a small symbol in the middle towards the bottom that was red and looked like it was cracked. If I tried to open it, it would say file missing. I then did a roll back on my computer and used my Maxtor External Drive to help to reload another roll back. After this I went into Elements 3.0 and clicked back up, this time, it asked me if I wanted to find all missing files. I did, and the process took me about 3 hours of clicking, however, I still lost an estimated 200 pictures and when they are not found, you have only one option, to delete them from the file folder in order to move on and recover the other lost files. This has been a total nightmare. I now have everything not only backed up on my Maxtor external, but a hard copy on DVD. Thanks for your help guys...but I suppose after trial and error, it worked about 91%. Still, the loss of approximately 200 pictures is no laughing matter.
