Trying to move messages from MS Internet Mail 32bit to Outlook Express

Trying to move messages from MS Internet Mail 32bit to Outlook Express.

These are idx and mbx files, not dbx. I have tried to install MS Internet Mail in my new XP (thinking to then import) but IM won't run.

Any help is appreciated.

In Outlook Express have you tried File, Import, Internet Mail?

I am moving the messages one one PC (running Win95) to another PC and also from Internet Mail and News to Outlook Express 6.

I tried loading Internet Mail on the new PC running Windows XP...no go. I did move the data files to the new PC and tried the import funtion of Outlook Express; I get the msg "No messages can be found in this folder or another application is running that has the required files open. Please select another folder or try closing applications that may have files open."

Any other suggestions? By the way, the files are NOT read-only or hidden.

I can't remember - are there any export functions in Internet Mail that may be of use?

Microsoft Internet Mail and News does have an export function. It only exports messages to Microsoft Exchange and then only a few (like maybe 30 out of 100). I have also tried to load Outlook Express on the old PC, then Import the messages into Outlook from Internet Mail, but I get the same message..."No messages can be found in this folder or another application is running that has the required files open. Please select another folder or try closing applications that may have files open."

Any other ideas?

Is there some utility software available to accomplish these email conversions?
