Trying to install solaris8 on a netra X1

Hello all,

I recently purchased a second hand Netra X1 server. This server has no cd drive so I put an ide cdrom drive on the others cable, did a probe-ide to see if the server could see it and it could. boot cdrom to start the solaris8 install, I get passed putting in the ip address, disk partitions and no on but when it starts installing the software it come up with an RARP error. I think it try ing to look for a jump start server?.

My first question is :-

Can I install solaris in a Netra X1 this way I.E via an ide cdrom drive or do I have to have a jumpstart server?.

If I have to have a jumpstart server can it be a Solaris for intel box as I don't have another a sun server?.

Sounds like you are using the Installation Disk... Use Software Disk 1 instead.
