Hi there,
I have two copper 1GB NICs in a server that I want to trunk to give me a 2GB throughput. I am not entirely sure how to do this. I have created the trunk on the switch (it's actually a Netgear GSM7328S L3 Managed Gigabit Switch but there's no Netgear forum on this site so I'm posting in the Cisco forum) I know the trunk is set up right as I have another trunk on the switch that links to an HP Procurve switch and that is working perfectly.
On the server there is a Broadcom Control Suite in the control panel that I have used to create a Load Balance between the two NICs. I have plugged the two NICs in to the switch but when I look at the packet transfer there is virtually no activity on one on the NICs. The switch is also telling me that the trunk is down.
So where am I going wrong? Should I be using Load Balancing on the server or can I simply plug two NICs with different IP addresses in to the two trunked ports on the switch?
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
