I have a center in an other part of the country which is tied to my center through tie-lines as well as tie-lines to other centers. The pbx also has local trunks. I recently created a new fax number for a specific project. The project will be faxing in my area only and I was asked to ensure that the fax extension only uses the tie-lines to my centers. Is there an easy way to do this or do I have to start creating time-of-day chart and partition routing tables etc....
any help would be appreciated.

Will you be faxing to the same numbers all the time, or will it be all types of different numbers? If it will be the same, then you could setup an ARS or AAR string to send it out a route pattern that will only have the tie lines in it. If they are different numbers you could setup a partitioned route pattern, and give those fax extensions a different COR that would put them in that partition.

They will be faxing approximately 38 to 40 different area codes and all different numbers....now you see my dilema. I thought of giving them the tac code for that trunk group but it's against company policy. I might just setup a speed dial for the tac code and instruct them to use the speed dial then the fax number.

Thank you for your reply

How bout setting up AAR. Then you can insert the TAC in the route pattern? Instead of dialing 9 to get an out side line they dial 5. or what ever you have available. I wonder if the faxes can be programmed to add the TAC? I know our Brother and Xerox machines have the capability...but our users were so use to adding the ARS digit it would end up dialing 9+9+1+XXX+XXXX.

In the future everything will work...

Thanks everyone for your replies. The problem has been solved

Everybody is happy.

Well What was the Fix???

Just wondering

Created a speed dial for the TAC (company policy restricts us from divulging TAC codes)and instructed them to use it for every fax coming my way. I also told them to check their fax machine owner's manual to see if the speed dial could be programmed in.

Great Thanks for the info
