I need some help with a trunk group that has DID block of fax numbers on it. A few months ago we were getting a busy signal on our fax numbers. When I pulled the status on the trunk the service state said disconnected. I reseated the tie trunk card and the trunk came back up. Now it's happening again (busy signals on the fax lines and service state is disconnected). There's an amber light on the card. When I reseat the card or busyout/release the trunk the service state goes to "in-service/active" for about 30 seconds and then goes back to disconnected.

We've got an Exacom E&M Interface Unit that our fax server plugs in to if that helps with the trouble shooting at all. Any idea what I can try or where to look for the problem? I'm not terribly proficient in the telecom side of things and I wanted to see if I could get it up and running myself before I call in a contractor to look at it.

Thanks!

Do you have another exact same board in your cabinet? If so try and swap the boards and see if issue foll the board. If problem follows the board to the slot you placed it in and not were you placed the replacement, then it sound like maybe a board issue. If problem stays in the original slot then it could be a cabinet/carrier issue.

Thanks. I don't have a spare board so I've got a new one coming next week. The provider said it's not on their end since it's only the DID block for the fax numbers and nothing else is affected. Hopefully the new board will fix it.
