Hi,
I have searched the archives but have not seen a problem like the one I am having.

I am running Office 2000 Professional on Windows 98SE.

I am having trouble with icons(only a few) on some of the toolbars, whereby the "button" is there, but there is no image. Yet by grasping the toolbar and moving it the image becomes visible. But disappears again once it is clicked.

For example, in Frontpage 2000 on the picture toolbar, the position picture absolutely icon is visible until you highlight a picture to work with, then the image disappears. By moving the toolbar to a different location the image reappears until you place the cursor over it, then it disappears again.

Previously, this problem only affected "add-on" icons in word. Icons such as those for Adobe 5.0 and Microsoft Encarta Dictionary. Since I did a complete system clean install, the problem has returned.

I would add that regardless of where the toolbar is positioned when I File, Close/Exit the applications, the problem is still there the next time I start them.

Has anyone got any ideas or is more info required? Any help with this would be appreciated. I have scoured these archives, the net and microsoft to get a handle on this problem, all without success.

Thanks in advance,

Chris.

I believe you have some serious issues with your video driver.

First under Display properties, go to settings, Click Advanced, Troubleshooting tab, turn the Acceleration down a couple of notches. See if that fixes the problem.

Else, update or change your video driver. "Amicule, num is sum qui mentiar tibi?"

Thanks xlhelp.

I have followed your advice which has led me all the way back to the original driver that came with the card (Radeon 7000VE).

Problem solved. Thanks again, it's appreciated.

All the best,

Chris.
