I am unable to transfer files over 4Gigs to an external USB HDD. I have a 320Gig Western Digital HDD model # WDXB3200JBRNN. I am trying to transfer .ISO files that are over 4gigs. I receive an error that I am out of disk space but have plenty of room on the CPU HDD and the external HDD.

thanks,

Alex

I was transferring 10-12gb avi video files and started getting major problems with my 2 WD External HDD (120gb + 300gb)

Hope yours doesn't turn out to be the same problem, I have lost a lot of the files due to delayed write failures and not being able to access them following defrag/reformat etc on,

I am hoping that an XP rebuild this weekend will resolve the issue having now reformatted both drives on another machine.

If IT ain’t working Binnit and Reboot

I think my issue is that I am trying to transfer the files to a fat32 drive. I will reformat to NTFS this weekend and give it another try.

That's correct. Fat32 supports a maximum file size of 4 GB.
