Hi all,
I am trying to dual boot XP and fedora but having a few problems, I will explain what I have tried so far.
In the first instance the hard drive was completely NTFS no partitions and an XP OS. I then used Partition magic to split the 30G hdd down the middle. I then installed fedora on the empty partition. Ok simple and that worked just fine, I booted into fedora and that was fine, I booted into XP and that was fine. I shut down the Laptop and felt quite smug. When I came back to the laptop to have a look around fedora it would not boot. Hmm strange I thought, I will try XP but that was much the same, just locked up. I bet its because it was NTFS. So I wipe the lot and put XP in fat partition and fedora in ext3. now with fingers crossed I try again. It boots into both OS fine then straight away I try to go back into fedora but it locks. I restart and try XP and the same happens here. Blast, never believed in finger crossing anyway. I do the same again but use ext2. Blast
, just same, right its 2am
I going to bed and sort this tomorrow.
The next day…
right there must be a bug in this fedora so this time I will reinstall and then update it before closing down. You guessed it fedora was up to date and yes the same happed. ![[hairpull3] [hairpull3] [hairpull3]](/data/assets/smilies/hairpull3.gif)
My intention was to have fedora on one partition XP in a second and a third for having a play with slackware (have a book) as this seemed to be a good way to learn lots of Linuxy stuff.
Any suggestions about what I can do about this other than make the laptop complete fedora
