Traping usedID from user-level security 1

I need to trap the user ID utilized in the access user-security level in a global variable. I know how to use the variable but I have no clue on how to trap the userid.
Does anybody have any experience with this.

CurrentUser() will grab the ... currently-logged in user. No need to place this in a global variable as the function is quite speedy, but it can't hurt much either.
