We have a G3r v11 and one of the phones is a transtalk 9040 wireless phone. The access point is in the server room.

We have never had range problems, but every couple of days or so the phone will lose connection to the access point. The only way to get it working is to un-register it, and then re-register it. It works fine after that for a couple of days, and then goes out again.

It isn't used much, but we need it for emergencies. It's too unreliable for that right now though.

Avaya has not be able to figure out what's wrong with it, and just replaces it.

Anyone have an idea of what may be happening to it?

Have u installed a new fax machine, DSL, or something else at your place of business?

Da-vi'do

P.S. A message to all,if you want to get the best response to a question, please read FAQ222-2244 first. Also give the type & version of your voice mail & pbx system & preview your post to make sure it is complete & understandable. Be aware that if u don't answer a question, I usually will not continue to help u.

No nothing new at all.
There is a microwave between the access point and where the wireless phone sits, I tried to make it lose connection while standing next to the microwave, but it never lost connection.

This is a wild stab in the dark, but perhaps the signal is strong enough when you're standing next to the microwave that the system doesn't lose the phone, but if you're at the edge of the range and the microwave is running it could interfear with it?

Like I said, it's a stab in the dark, but you never know. :)

The transtalk is a 900 mhz device. Your microwave oven is 2.4 ghz (same as WiFi networks and some home cordless phones) so it's unlikely that's the culprit.

Many cellular phones and corless phones operate in the 900 mhz range. It might just be an errant cell phone user nearby....

Carpe dialem! (Seize the line!)

The Transtalk 9040 works with a Dual Radio Module that is line powered from the switch via 2-pair off a TN2181 or TN2224. It wouldn't surprise me if you are having a power problem with the Radio Module or the circuit pack (TN2181/TN2224). I would doubt a wire problem exsists. Has your vendor of choice checked/swapped out the Radio Module or Digital Port card?

Avaya is sending another tech tomorrow to see if they can fix it. I will suggest this, and we'll see what happens.

Thanks!

Did you ever get your transtalk issue resolved?
What ended up being the solution?

We are having the same issues...

Thank you...

The tech replaced the phone again. It seems to be working now, but I don't think I'll ever trust it.
